sitting side by side
each transfixed
illuminated by the glow of the screen
both lost in a world of our own
I look over at you
sensing my gaze
you glance my way
our eyes meet
we smile
coupled souls
within seeming disconnection

by writing a small stone every day for the month of January.A *small stone is a very short piece of writing that precisely captures a fully-engaged moment.

Hubber's could never understand the allure of the computer, and didn't even know how to turn one one...until he got a laptop a while back. Now, a part of many evenings are spent side by side, on our computers.
This is being replicated all over, wherever internet access exists. True in my household too. Looking on the bright side, we're still side by side, even if it's not a walk along the beach.

This sounds so familiar! :-) I love how you have captured the connection that is there anyway! Beautiful stone, Karen!
I am so enthralled by how many of us are doing this- I must say I feel quite close to my husband while we are both online. I like having him there- Great observation-
The allure of the computer...nice
Oh how true this is!
And reflected in the river here too. Thanks Karen.
That Real connection! Nicely noticed and noted.
Like cows, grazing side by side in a green field...

Companionable silence can be lovely or lonely too. Great expression in this post.
