The Phone Call (small stone 16 )

>>>>U<<<<

i answered the phone
not expecting to hear YOU
on the other end

imagine my shock
as i listened to a voice
almost forgotten

at a loss for words
i sat silently, waiting
for you to hang up

I am participating in The River Of Stones.
by writing a small stone every day for the month of January.
A *small stone is a very short piece of writing that precisely captures a fully-engaged moment.

I hope the outcome of the call is positive for you. You sure know how to intrigue a reader cause I am sure there are several short stories, if not novels, worth of tales suggested by this poem.

I must say your small stones, say a lot in every few words. Enjoy reading them not looking forward to when they end:(

Love it. And would like a follow up stone (boulder?) as well.

Left me not knowing if the call was good or bad. Hope it was good.

Hi Everyone,
As Judy surmised, there are a few tales indeed, behind the writing of this stone, but they are better left untold.

The call was neither good or bad, I hung up. After recovering from the shock of hearing from this person, I have to admit, my feelings are neutral.

Thanks for stopping by everyone.

I was intrigued, so thanks for the explanation. Sometimes hard to know what to do in such a situation. A good stone, though.
